Christian Cutler
Director
Christian joined the WMA in July 2022. He brings more than two decades of combined private art gallery, museum, and university gallery experience from behind-the-scenes preparations for show openings, juried exhibitions, visiting artists, and fundraising, to managing overall operations of gallery exhibition programming, education, and design. He most recently served as gallery director for the University of Central Missouri, and previously for Stephen F. Austin State University, where he managed multiple exhibition spaces, producing more than 20 annual exhibitions, and overseeing dozens of events, including the highly popular “First Friday Films” series for Nacogdoches, Texas, and the “Gallery Kids” tours and workshops for Warrensburg, Missouri. He has also worked as the assistant to the director of the Sir Elton John Collection and as the registrar’s assistant at the Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He is a graduate of fellow Associated Colleges of the South member institution, Sewanee: The University of the South, and holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Amanda Cheatham
Exhibition Designer/Museum Registrar
Amanda designs exhibition layouts to highlight artwork, accommodate didactic materials, and meet all environmental requirements, and also manages the safe display and storage of all artwork at the museum. This work includes overseeing the permanent collection, coordinating the care of all loan objects, supervising exhibition installations, and serving as building manager for both the WMA and the Hundley-Shell Theater. Additionally, she handles the design and production of all printed and web-based materials, and coordinates various administrative and financial responsibilities. Before joining the museum, Amanda worked for more than 20 years as the Assistant to the Provost’s Office at Hendrix. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the University of Arkansas—Fayetteville.
Lindsey Knight
Education Curator
Lindsey connects community with the arts. She engages not only students, faculty, and staff at Hendrix College, but also community members in the city of Conway and beyond, by creating and facilitating robust educational and community programming, hands-on art activities, and museum tours. She also trains and manages the corps of paid student Museum Educators employed at the museum. Before coming to work at the Windgate Museum of Art at Hendrix College, she was the education coordinator at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, where she also helped to create and facilitate public programming and tours. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art with an emphasis in illustration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Land Acknowledgement Statement
The Windgate Museum of Art at Hendrix College occupies the traditional homelands of the Osage, Quapaw, and Caddo. We offer respect and gratitude to the Indigenous peoples who have cared for the land over generations. As a community of learners within an academic institution, it is our responsibility to grow our own and others’ understanding about the historical and ongoing contexts of this land and its inhabitants. We recognize the displacement of and atrocities against the Indigenous peoples who called this area home and those who passed through. We recognize continued oppression of our country’s Native peoples and the role museums often play in this oppression. We strive to establish the Windgate Museum of Art as an institute for progressive change and to develop and nurture positive relationships with the Indigenous peoples of our region.

Hendrix Student Opportunities
Museum Associates
Museum Associates are advanced positions at the museum for students who have successfully completed a year in the Gallery Educator program. Museum Associates work with a museum professional one-on-one on specialized needs at the museum. Areas include Curatorial Research, Collection Management, Gallery Education, Exhibition and Graphic Design, Marketing and Communications, Film and Website Management.
Museum Educators
Hendrix students have the opportunity to serve as Museum Educators at the Windgate Museum of Art. These are paid positions available to students in any major—they just need an interest and enthusiasm for museums and art. Museum Educators provide group and school tours, manage the reception gallery, circulate and answer questions, and staff educational and social programs.
